Dr. Robert Fleck
Founder Dr. Fleck is a graduate of the University of California at Davis and completed his large animal surgical internship at Colorado State University. He has practiced veterinary medicine in Colorado, Portland, and San Diego. He founded the Rainland Farm Equine Clinic in 1975. He has special expertise in nuclear scintigraphy (bone scan), lameness examinations, and breeding as well as reconstructive, laser and arthroscopic surgery.
He has introduced powerful regenerative therapeutic therapies to the clinic practice, including stem cell, bone marrow,
PRP
(platelet rich plasma) and
IRAP
(Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein). Shock wave therapy is also a major part of his treatment program for many muscle/skeletal injuries.
Dr. Fleck campaigns several horses on the international show circuit, and breeds Jack Russell terriers. His daughter and son-in-law train horses and show professionally as Emerald Equestrian. His thirty plus years of experience make him keenly aware of the health and soundness demands required of competitive animals.
Dr. Theresa Engelbert
Associate Dr. Engelbert graduated from Washington State University veterinary school and completed her large animal residency at North Carolina State University. She joined the clinic in 1994. Dr. Engelbert is board certified, a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, the American Veterinary Medical Association specialty board which sets the standards for advanced professionalism in veterinary surgery. She performs varied surgeries including colic and arthroscopic. Dr. Engelbert is also certified in chiropractic from College of Animal Chiropractic in Kansas, and offers chiropractic to help your horse improve range of motion and reach its full potential. She grew up in Idaho barrel racing, and now competes with quarter horses in trail and western riding classes.
Annette Sturtevant Annette joined the Rainland team in 1997. She was the office manager for an equine veterinary practice in San Diego for ten years, also working in small animal hospitals, before moving to Washington. At home, she has two yellow labs, a Jack Russell terrier and a cat, and also takes care of two horses, two goats and a pony.
Char Monaghan Char has worked as an equine veterinary assistant since 2000. Before joining the Rainland team she worked at a large animal hospital treating hospitalized and post-operative patients, and on the road as an ambulatory assistant. Her love of animals extends to her home where she has two horses, two dogs, one cat, four birds and several fish.
Renee JakobsonRenee has been a licensed veterinary technician since 2000 and has worked as an equine surgical technician and an equine critical care nurse since 2006. She now lives on a small farm in Snohomish with her husband and 2 children. Some of her favorite things are caring for her many animals, as well as camping, hiking, and trail riding.
Kathleen Johansen Kathleen works part-time as support staff, after having been a client of Rainland Farm Equine Clinic for 20 years. She has owned, ridden and cared for horses for more than forty years.
Jose CuetoJose has worked at Rainland for many years, maintaining the facility, feeding the horses and providing all around support.
