Dr. Robert V. Fleck


Founder Dr. Fleck is a graduate of the University of California at Davis and completed his large animal surgical internship at Colorado State University. He has practiced veterinary medicine in Colorado, Portland, and San Diego. He founded the Rainland Farm Equine Clinic in 1975. He has special expertise in nuclear scintigraphy (bone scan), lameness examinations, and breeding as well as reconstructive, laser and arthroscopic surgery.
He has introduced powerful regenerative therapeutic therapies to the clinic practice, including stem cell, bone marrow, PRP (platelet rich plasma) and IRAP (Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein). Shock wave therapy is also a major part of his treatment program for many muscle/skeletal injuries.
Dr. Fleck campaigns several horses on the international show circuit, and breeds Jack Russell terriers. His daughter and son-in-law train horses and show professionally as Emerald Equestrian. His thirty plus years of experience make him keenly aware of the health and soundness demands required of competitive animals.

Dr. Eric Renner

Dr. Renner graduated from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. He then completed an equine internship and post-doctoral position at Colorado State University the following two years. Prior to returning to Washington, Dr. Renner practiced along the front range of Colorado. He is excited to return to the Pacific Northwest and join the team at Rainland Farms Equine Clinic. Having ridden jumpers for several years Dr. Renner looks forward to continuing his interests in equine sports medicine, lameness and dentistry. Dr. Renner is an avid fly-fisherman and road cyclist. He can be found exploring new waters around the Northwest when not pursuing his passion for horses. 

Annette Sturtevant

Annette joined the Rainland team in 1997. She was the office manager for an equine veterinary practice in San Diego for ten years, also working in small animal hospitals, before moving to Washington. When not at work, she enjoys camping with her husband Scott and Jack Russel, Logan and grandchildren.

Dr. Susannah Lewis

A native of Iowa, Dr. Susannah Lewis received her veterinary degree from the Universityof Minnesota, followed by an 18-month sport horse internship at Hagyard Equine

Medical Institute in Lexington, KY, including a winter season in Wellington, FL. Prior to veterinary school, she completed her PhD at the University of Colorado, investigating

novel treatments for chronic pain. She has a particular interest in equine neuromuscular diseases, lameness diagnosis and internal medicine. When not practicing medicine or pursuing her lifelong passion for dressage, she enjoys hiking and backpacking with her husband and Beagle puppy.

Jose Cueto

Jose has worked at Rainland for many years, maintaining the facility, feeding the horses and providing all around support.
